Let me tell you a story …
This rider, let’s call them Jordan, was your typical cyclist, riding a couple of times per week socially.
Each weekend they’d meet their friends for a social ride, and during the week they might find time to go out for an extra ride.
Jordan however, decided to get a little more serious, a few of their friends had entered a sportive and before long…
Jordan had entered too.
The main issue was twofold.
1. Lack of time.
2. Lack of direction.
How on earth could Jordan train for a long distance event, with only a handful of hours each week available for training?
Initially, Jordan turned to the gym.
“I’ll do some more spin classes”
But the biggest issue with spin classes is spending most of the session spinning your legs at crazy speeds and not doing anything specific to riding outside.
Not to mention the spin bikes are nothing like the bike you ride at home.
The saddles are uncomfortable, the handlebars are the wrong shape and even the way you sit on your bike isn’t specific enough if you are aiming to ride a long distance outside.
When I first met Jordan, improving on the bike used to mean trying to find more hours in the week to ride longer and longer distances. If Jordan could ride a few more spin classes and ride outside for longer, Jordan would be improving, but it wasn’t happening.
Jordan was getting more and more frustrated, dedicating more time to cycling, but not seeing the results out on the road.
Ready to throw in the towel, Jordan had resigned to a life of never improving on the bike, and that’s when Jordan heard about HURTBOX through a recommendation.
At first, Jordan wasn’t convinced.
Having tried spin classes in the past and spent in excess of £1000’s on gym memberships, Jordan was sceptical.
And Jordan was right to be cautious. After all, there are a lot of charlatans out there in the fitness industry, promising the world, and delivering very little.
So I sat down with Jordan and spoke about some of the results our other clients had been getting.

And ALL by following a method that was easy to adopt, only required 2-3 hours of training per week and never told them they “should” only eat broccoli.

Now, what I’m about to reveal to you is probably going to sound shocking.
But go with me, because I’m going to show you undeniable proof that it does work.
First, we need to know why other methods of riding faster simply DO NOT WORK.
Take the 80/20 rule for example. It tells you that you can improve your fitness on the bike by riding easy 80% of the time (and hard 20%). Trouble is, those results just never happen.
The reason for that is you only have a limited number of hours each week to ride your bike. If you are spending 80% of your limited time available riding easy, you aren’t spending enough time riding hard to stimulate improvements in your cycling.
What about spin classes too. Spend an hour spinning your legs at 120rpm (when we cycle outside at around 80-90), how is this relevant or going to help you tackle those climbs easier?
And don’t even get me started on the old fashioned cyclist view of just riding your bike. Yes, increasing your riding time is one way of improving your riding, I’m not doubting that.
The flaw is trying to find enough time each week without fail to stimulate those improvements. Where do you stop?
At 5 hours?
It just doesn’t fit with our busy lives.
So now we know what DOESN’T work, let me tell you what does...
This is the 8 week program designed to help cyclists ride faster and more powerfully.
The program is designed to help busy individuals improve their performance on two wheels, increasing their average riding speed out on the road and in many cases increasing their FTP (Functional Threshold Power) results by around 10% (that’s pretty huge).
We are different from most “gyms”
Usually you would get
- Some spin with a gym instructor who will shout at you for an hour and leave you sweaty and then you are left on your own for the rest of the week.
- Maybe some online support from a coach where a lot of the program is cookie cuttered and no personalisation.
- You might even get some specific advice from the coach or instructor, but chances are, they haven’t been through what you’ve been through.
But not at HURTBOX. Here’s how it works:
- 2-3 times each week for 8 weeks, you’ll come along to our facility in Southampton to ride in a bespoke cycling session.
- These sessions are in a small group (up to 10 riders) but the session is 100% tailored to you. The ride leader is there (not on the bike) to ensure you are happy with everything and to importantly find out about you and give you advice on how you can improve.
- In between sessions, you get 24/7 online support by way of a Facebook group and email access to the team. Got a quesiton? Fire it accross to them and you’ll get an answer within 48 hours, post it in the group and chances are it’ll get answered instantly.
- You also receive our Nutrition Blueprint from our in house Nutrition Coach. Rather than listing out bland and boring foods you should eat, this will educate you on how you can eat ANYTHING you want and still help you lose weight as fast as you desire.

I’m Coach Ant, Cyclist, Triathlete, Personal Trainer and Coach
I train clients to improve their cycling and triathlon performance, from starting their journeys right through to epic achievements such as long distance sportives and Ironman events.
Three things you should know about me:
1. I’ve competed Worldwide in Triathlon and this year won the 30-34 age group at Ironman 70.3 Marbella. I’m also the British Duathlon Champion for the 30-34 age group, as well as 2nd and 3rd in the Standard and Sprint British Triathlon Championships respectively.
2. In cycling I hold a time of 19:35 for 10 miles, 49:30 for 25 miles and 1:41 for 50 miles (this is a 29.6mph average speed for 50 miles if you are trying to work it out).
3. I coach clients all over the world for endurance events, including time trials, triathlon, cycle sportives, charity challenges, road racing. In short, anything involving, swimming, running or on two wheels.

Week one is often the chance to settle in and get used to the program.
By week 2, many clients are beginning to see noticeable differences in their riding. They are feeling more energetic, some are seeing those scales drop, some are even noticing physical changes in their bodies, feeling stronger, climbing better and feeling a lot more confident.
By the time week four comes round, they are really noticing the difference, they are looking leaner, their riding is improving out on the road too, with many seeing increases in speed and power. When it comes to riding hills, they are climbing stronger, their Strava segment times are dropping and the group rides they do are now becoming easier.
By the end of the program, they are looking and feeling physically stronger and they are telling us how much more confident and happy they feeling riding out on the road.
